Question:

I have a 23 year old jade plant. Up on a top branch she has a white root sprouting out. I read that it is likely for support like a vine. Do I need to use a dowel rod and give her support? It is not hanging or overly heavy. Looking for advice as to what to do with her.

Answer:

There is no need for you to do anything. Jade Plants do occasionally put out aerial roots. They are not a problem and it does not mean the plant is looking for or needing anything. If you were to provide a support, the root would not attach itself anyway. Personally, I think that plants that are propped up artificially look unsightly. A plant that needs propping is a plant that really needs pruning.
