Question:

My Swedish ivy has very tiny leaves and I’ve been trying to figure out what’s wrong with it. It’s also been happening on my jade plant. The older, existing leaves of the jade plant are normal size 2-3 inches long, but any new leaves are remaining extremely small. I’ve never seen anything like it. I can send/post a photo if necessary.

Answer:

The likely cause is that the plants are now receiving less light than they did in the nursery where the older leaves were grown. Plants can survive in less than optimum light, but they adapt by producing fewer and smaller leaves when they are in reduced light.

Both of your plants do best if given at least several hours of direct indoor sunlight each day.
